How long did your southbound crossing take?
Laredo, Texas is the busiest land port in the United States by trade value. Over $300 billion in goods crosses annually between Laredo and Nuevo Laredo, more than any other US port of entry. Four bridges serve different purposes:
Bridge I (Gateway to the Americas) — downtown, pedestrian-focused, 24 hours.
Bridge II (Juárez-Lincoln) — the main passenger vehicle bridge, 24 hours. SENTRI and Ready Lane available.
Colombia Solidarity Bridge — about 25 miles west of downtown. Passenger and commercial, 8 AM to midnight. Less congested but a longer drive.
World Trade Bridge — commercial trucks only, 7 AM to midnight. Roughly 14,000 truck crossings per day.
Bridge II has dedicated SENTRI and Ready Lane lanes. Both significantly reduce wait time during peak commuter hours.
For most travelers, Bridge II (Juárez-Lincoln) is the answer — 24 hours, all lane types, downtown access. If standard lanes are backed up over an hour, Colombia Bridge is worth the 25-mile drive west.
Sunday afternoons returning from Mexico, and weekday morning commuter peaks 6–9 AM. Holiday return days (after Christmas, after Easter, after major Mexican holidays) routinely push waits past 2 hours at Bridge II.
